Joel at 12 weeks.....

I have been a bit slack in updating Joel on here. I get busy and another week goes past. Also I am finding it hard to get a nice photo of him.

He is now smiling and talking all the time. He loves to be chatted to and is very social.

DSCF2036

He is spending more time awake and has a sleep in the morning at about 10 and then another cat nap in the afternoon. He then has some awake time and has another sleep between 5-8...which is handy as feral hour is a nightmare when the odd times he is awake and grumpy.

He then has some awake time between 8-9pm which is daddy time and then sleeps until 2-3am. Then he is up at 6am and the day starts all over again :)

Occasionally this routine goes AWOL but he is pretty good

Happy 8th Birthday Eloise

Tuesday was officially Eloise's Birthday but she was with her dad, it is her year for a party so I organised for her to have it at Hungry Jacks....no more parties at my house....too much stress.

She was allowed to invite 8 people from her class, so she chose 4 boys and 4 girls.

I was so slack I even organised a cake from Woolies to be made for the occasion

So apart from immediate brothers and sisters, cousins and close friend only 2 class mates turned up ( I was a bit peeved as only 3 people RSVP) I felt for Eloise but she really didn't mind as she was having  a great time with the people that were there.

Hot Chocolate

hot choc

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired.

During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.
Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups -- porcelain, glass, crystal; some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: 'Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.' While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then, you began eyeing each others cups.
Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate--your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly... and enjoy your hot chocolate.

Happy Birthday Matthew

Today was Matthews birthday and he turned the 4. He is officially no longer a toddler. But in so many ways he still is.

The girls each gave him a set to play with his cars, he is really into "tunnels" at the moment so this was perfect.

DSCF1962

Then out came Darian with a brand new bike, Matthew still can't peddle yet but with practice and the pedals hitting his shins he should get it in no time.

DSCF1963

In the afternoon we organised a afternoon tea party and Aunty Jacquie and the kids came and Grandma and Grandpa came up from Mandurah.

Aunty Jacquie and the kids gave him a fantastic green mountain thingy with tunnels...happy boy

DSCF1961

Grandma and Grandpa gave him a cricket set (which the girls took out side and started to play) and a new quilt cover and forklift.

After some chatting and eating we sang happy birthday and cut the cake. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera out but grandma got some shots and we took video.

So once everyone said goodbye and went home I then drove Talia and Eloise to their dads house where they are staying for the holidays, came home and put a very tired but happy boy to bed.
